Deuteronomy 34:3-5

³ He saw the Negev desert in the south. He saw the valley that goes from Jericho as far as Zoar. Jericho is called ‘The city of palm trees’.

⁴ Then the Lord said to Moses, ‘This is the land that I promised to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. I told them that I would give it to their descendants. Now I have let you see the land, but you will not go across the river into it.’

⁵ So Moses, the Lord's servant, died there in Moab. The Lord had said that this would happen.
